The speedometer is all original except for the glass lens and rubber seals, which have been replaced with NOS parts. The metal case has the same dimensions, and calibration is. The dial face and bezel are rusted, but the speedometer mechanism is clean free of rust. The speedometer was fully disassembled and rebuilt, then reassembled, tested confirmed to be in good working condition.

This speedometer is similar to a 1941 Harley Davidson Police Special. The military model Indian motorcycles that were exported during WW2 had speedometers of varying designs produced by different manufacturers, depending on what country the motorcycle was.

The original clear blue plastic dial lighting window in the side of case is good condition with no cracks it. No I do not speedometer rebuild service for people. This is the correct ratio for all 1940, 1941 and 1942 model year Indian 741, 640, 640B 841 Army motorcycles. Calibration has been checked after rebuilding and found to be within factory tolerances.

This speedometer definitely had some radium paint on the pointer needle and dial originally, but it all flaked off, so its safe for export to Australia or UK. All gauge functions were tested and confirmed to be in good working condition after rebuilding, including the odometer trip counter advancing, reset. The pointer needle is the original one to speedometer.
