The gears and the blade of input shaft were found to have only very slight wear. Selling one used 5.59 dated VDO mechanical tachometer/speedometer angle drive for German made cars, trucks, motorcycles and tractors. Check my ads on the other site I sell the samba for more hard to find parts.

Original numbers drive with original matching gears. The output shaft of the drive is configured for camshaft takeoff on a clockwise rotating crankshaft motorcycle engine to run sweep tach. All of the bronze Elite bushings are still nice and tight.

The drive will only fit 1953, 1954, 1955, 1956, 1957, 1958, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964 and 1965 BMW R69. Because the gearbox is so small, gears need a light smearing of grease only, and nipple can't be installed, because it would cause drive to get locked up hydraulically due tons pressure from gun. Perfect alignment will allow the blade of input shaft to last a long time.

The drive has been fully disassembled and both the gears blade of input shaft were cleaned checked for wear, then re-greased was reassembled, tested confirmed to be in good working condition. For perfect alignment, a hole corresponding to the diameter of protrusion on back mounting flange will need be bored Not drilled into your timing cover using scrap engine case as jig.

This is the drive that most often one installed in a camshaft takeoff capacity to VDO 1:4 calibrated tachometers on BMW R69 and R69S motorcycles from start of production up 1965 model year. A flat spot can then be fly cut into the timing cover, and threaded holes for mounting screws tapped in.
